Continuous non-perturbative regularization of QED

چکیده

We regularize in a continuous manner the path integral of QED by construction of a non-local version of its action by means of a regularized form of Dirac’s δ functions. Since the action and the measure are both invariant under the gauge group, this regularization scheme is intrinsically non-perturbative. Despite the fact that the non-local action converges formally to the local one as the cutoff goes to infinity, the regularized theory keeps trace of the non-locality through the appearance of a quadratic divergence in the transverse part of the polarization operator. This term which is uniquely defined by the choice of the cutoff functions can be removed by a redefinition of the regularized action. We notice that as for chiral fermions on the lattice, there is an obstruction to construct a continuous and non ambiguous regularization in four dimensions. With the help of the regularized equations of motion, we calculate the one particle irreducible functions which are known to be divergent by naive power counting at the one loop order. ∗[email protected]

Noncommutative Dipole QED

The noncommutative dipole QED is studied in detail for the matter fields in the adjoint representation. The axial anomaly of this theory is calculated in two and four dimensions using various regularization methods. The Ward-Takahashi identity is proved by making use of a non-perturbative path integral method. The one-loop β-function of the theory is calculated explicitly. It turns out that the...

Precision Tests of Quantum Chromodynamicsand

We discuss three topics relevant to testing the Standard Model to high precision: commensurate scale relations, which relate observables to each other in pertuba-tion theory without renormalization scale or scheme ambiguity, the relationship of compositeness to anomalous moments, and new methods for measuring the anomalous magnetic and quadrupole moments of the W and Z. 1. Is the axial anomaly really determined in a continuous non-perturbative regularization?

In the framework of a gauge invariant continuous and non-perturbative regularization scheme based on the smearing of point like interactions by means of cutoff functions, we show that the axial anomaly, though cutoff independent, depends on the shape of the cutoff functions. The standard value for the strength of the axial anomaly is recovered if we assume that the regularized gauge invariant a...

Non-perturbative solutions of the SD equation for an Abelian gauge field theory

In this article we present a mechanism in which we find new non-perturbative solutions of quantum electrodynamics in four dimensions. Two non-perturbative solutions are found for approximate Schwinger-Dyson equations. The mass ratio of the three solutions (one is ordinary solution) is approximately 1 : (8π/α) : 8π/α, which is close to the realistic mass ratio of e, μ and τ. e-mail: [email protected]...

Non-Perturbative QED and QCD at Finite Temperature

We present results of numerical solutions of Schwinger-Dyson equations for the finite-temperature quark and electron propagators. It is shown that both strongly coupled QED and QCD undergo a chiral symmetry restoring phase transition as the temperature is increased. We go beyond the bare vertex or “rainbow” approximation by applying the finite-temperature Ward-Takahashi identity to constrain th...
